Do you have a physical store I can visit? We have a physical store in Toronto, located just east of Kennedy Rd. & Sheppard Ave E. You can select "pickup" at checkout to have your books ready at our location for in-person pickup at no additional charge. Please ensure you wait for the pick-up ready email before visiting the store, since some books need sent from our warehouse to our store.
What is the difference between the 'Shipping' option and the 'Delivery' option? With our 'Shipping' option, you will just receive your books. If you choose to take advantage of our '1-year Buyback Guarantee' you will need to bring the books back to our store or ship them to us. Our 'Delivery' option is only available for private customers (not for educators or schools). Under this option your books will be shipped to you and picked up in person if you decide to sell them back to us under our 1-year Buyback Guarantee.
What is the Buyback Guarantee ? For books covered by our 'Buyback Guarantee' , we guarantee for up to 1 year, to buy them back at a pre-stated price we call the 'Buyback Price'. Our 1-Year Buyback Guarantee is subject to 'Terms and Conditions', and it is valid only for the person named on the sales receipt. When books are shipped back to us for dropped off for Buyback, they get sent to our warehouse and inspected. Depending on the time of the year, it can take up to 15 business days for the books to be inspected and a payment issued.
What exactly are the terms and conditions of your Buyback Guarantee? BUYBACK BOOKS INC. – BUYBACK GUARANTEE Terms and Conditions: Buyback Books Inc. Guarantees to Buyback Books at the Buyback Price before the Buyback expiry date, provided, since the time of sale, that: 1) The book is in a similar condition to when it was sold. 2) No part of the book has been written or marked on 3) No part of the book has been highlighted on. 4) No part of the book has been damaged by liquid or solid spills. 5) No part of the book has been folded or creased. 6) No part of the book has incurred rainwater damage. 7) The Buyback Book labels and stamps are intact and have not been removed. 8) No pages or parts of the book have been removed or torn. 9) The book is being sold back by the person named on the Sales Invoice, the Buyback Guarantee is Not transferable. 10) For customers who selected the 'delivery' option instead of 'shipping', Buyback Books Inc. will pick-up the books and will make only one trip per invoice. Upon instructing us, please allow up to 7 business days for us to pick the books up and up to 15 business days for our warehouse to inspect the books and issue a payment. When you Buyback Books, how do you know that customers haven't added markings, highlighting etc. to the books? Before selling our used books, we scan any pages that have imperfections.
What level of quality control do you have for your Used books? We believe we are in the forefront, when it comes to Used Book quality control. Every Used book is checked on a page by page basis. Any markings present are 'erased' or 'whited out' where possible. Any food crumbs, hair etc within the books are vacuumed, so that the book is clean and presentable. Every book is graded / scored out of 10, and the selling price is based on the score. Books which score between 8.5 and 10 out of 10 are considered 'Lightly Used' condition and books which score between 7 and 8.5 out of 10 are considered 'Useable' condition. Books which score between 5.5 and 7 out of 10 are considered 'end of life'. These books can still be used but we do not offer a 'Buyback Guarantee' on 'end of life' books. Books are scored / graded on the basis of 5 aspects; the condition of the 'Book Cover', 'Page Creases', 'Highlighting', 'Markings' and 'Spills'. Our scoring system is transparent and customers can find the bookscore on a sticker on the outside of the cover. We always give customers the highest scoring book available on the shelves at the time.
How can I be sure that you'll buy the books back from me under the your Buyback policy? At the point of purchase we give customers a hardcopy / electronic receipt / Buyback Guarantee showing our commitment. The Buyback of books is pivotal for our business model and is essential if we are to maintain used inventory levels. Therefore we are very keen to buy books back and highly appreciate the opportunity to buy books back. However in addition to this, customer service and maintaining a good reputation is of paramount importance to us. So customers can rest assured we will Buyback their books if that is what they want.
Which books are covered under the 'Buyback Guarantee' ? When customers select a product on our website, the dropdown menu 'Condition' displays whether or not the book is covered by our 'Buyback Guarantee'. For example, for books with No 'Buyback Guarantee', the 'Condition' dropdown menu would display (No Buyback), so the 'Buyback Price' is $0.
What if I want to keep the books I buy permanently, do I have to sell them back to you? No, you don't have to sell books bought from us, back to us. Once customers have bought books from us, the books and the future of those books, belong to the customer. However, we are very appreciative of any unmarked and unsoiled books that we are given the opportunity to purchase back under our 'Buyback Guarantee'.
Do I have to wait exactly 1-year before I can sell books back to you, under the 'Buyback Guarantee' ? No, you can sell unsoiled, unmarked books back to us at any time before the 1-year 'Buyback Guarantee' expiry date.
What should I do when I'm ready to sell books back to you? Please reach out to us, either on our website, by email, text or phone. Please mention your Invoice number and which books you wish to return. Customers should also confirm that no markings / highlighting or liquid spills etc, have been added to the books. If any of the Buyback Guarantee conditions cannot be met, Customers should mention this on instructing the Buyback. We will try our best to still buy the books back, but we will have to make deductions for any damage to the books. For books purchased with the 'delivery' option instead of 'shipping' then those customers should allow up to 7 business days for books to be picked up. Books purchased under the 'shipping' will need to be shipped back to us or dropped off to our physical store location. For both cases, please allow up to a further 15 business days for books to be inspected by our warehouse, and for payment to be issued.
I live outside the part of the GTA area where you offer delivery / In-person Pick-up. If I buy a book from you and get it shipped, what should I do at the time of Buyback? If you are outside of our delivery / in person pick-up area at the time of Buyback, you would need to ship the books back to us at your own cost. Once we receive the books, please allow up to 15 days for our warehouse to inspect the books and issue a payment.
If I sell my books back to you much earlier than 1-year, say after a few months, can I get more back than the 'Buyback Price' ? Unfortunately, we are unable to pay more than the 'Buyback Price', even when customers return books much sooner than 1-year. Our business model relies on a large proportion of our customers returning books to us early, and we really do appreciate this. If most of our customers kept books for almost one year, it would not be feasible for us to offer a 'Buyback Guarantee' on any book.
If a book I buy gets replaced by a newer edition within the 1 Year Buyback Guarantee period, will you still honour the '1 Year Buyback Guarantee'? Yes, we do still honour our Buyback policy for any books with unexpired Buyback Guarantees, even though they are no longer current edition books.
